The Historical Influence of Imperial Examination on the Chieftain Society of Yunnan Province in Yuan Dynasty

元朝立国之后的很长时间,蒙古统治者一直停开科举。正是由于元代科举的中落,使其对中原文化的推动并未产生较为深远的历史影响。不过,对边疆之地云南行省的土司社会而言,却成为助力文明进步不可小觑的能量。南诏、大理地方政权的结束,使云南能够和中原地区在大一统格局下保持相对同步,而科举制度的启动和儒学的推广,客观上加强了边疆与内地的经济文化交流,进一步推动了云南行省土司社会各民族的交往交流交融。

For a long time after the founding of the Yuan Dynasty,the Mongol rulers stopped holding imperial examinations.Just because it fell in the middle,the Imperial Examination of the Yuan dynasty did not have a profound historical impact on the promotion of the Central Plains Culture.However,for the provincial chieftain society of Yunnan province in the frontier,it had become an energy that cannot be underestimated in helping the progress of civilization.The end of the division of Nanzhao and Dali enabled Yunnan to keep relatively synchronous with the Central Plains under the unified pattern,while the launch of the imperial examination system and the promotion of Confucianism not only objectively strengthened the economic and cultural exchanges between the frontier and the inland areas,but also further promoted the contact,communication and integration among all ethnic groups in the chieftain society of Yunnan.
