Effects of taurine on the nutrition and physiological function of animals

[目的]为了解牛磺酸的结构和性质、体内合成及代谢途径、其生物学功能和在动物生产中的应用。[方法]对相关文献进行综述、分析和归纳。[结果]牛磺酸是一种结构简单的含硫氨基酸,广泛存在于动物体内,对畜禽、水产和猫等动物具有促生长、抗氧化、提高免疫、调节脂质代谢、维护肠道健康和促进大脑发育等多种生理功能。[结论]在动物饲粮中添加适量的牛磺酸,对于动物尤其是合成牛磺酸能力较弱或无合成能力的动物健康尤为重要。

[Objectives] To understand the structure and properties, in vivo synthesis and metabolic pathways, biological functions, and applications in animal production of taurine. [Methods] The relevant literatures were reviewed, analyzed and summarized. [Results] Taurine is a simple sulfur-containing amino acid that is widely present in animals. It has various physiological functions including promoting growth,antioxidant activity, enhancing immunity, regulating lipid metabolism, maintaining intestinal health, and promoting the development of brain in animals including livestock, poultry, aquatic products, and cats.[Conclusions] Adding an appropriate amount of taurine to animal feed is particularly important for the health of animals, especially those with weak or no ability to synthesize taurine.
