子女教育对农村老年人心理健康的影响——基于子女性别差异视角

The Effect of Children’s Education on Older Parents’Mental Health in Rural China——From the Perspective of Children’s Gender Difference

中国农村老龄化问题日趋严峻。农村老年人心理健康状况作为社会保障体系的重要体现对改善农村居民养老质量意义重大。文章使用中国家庭追踪调查(CFPS)2018年数据,基于子女性别差异视角,运用OLS和工具变量法,分析子女教育对农村老年父母心理健康状况的影响及其潜在影响机制。研究结果表明:子女受教育程度对农村老年父母心理健康状况有显著的正向影响,女儿教育通过物质和非物质支持越来越在农村老年人心理健康建设方面发挥着重要作用。

The aging problem in rural China is becoming increasingly serious,and the mental health of the elderly in rural areas as an important embodiment of the social security system should receive more social attention.Using the data from the China Family Panel Studies(CFPS)in 2018,the study analyzes the impact of children’s education on the mental health status of rural elderly parents and its internal channel mechanism,based on the perspective of children’s gender differences,using OLS and IV approaches.The study shows that children’s education has a significant positive impact on the elderly’s mental health and daughters’education gradually plays a key role in the rural elderly’s mental health construction through material and non-material support.
