To explore the cause of death of an African grey parrot. This study analyzed and diagnosed the cause of death of a case of African grey parrot through clinical symptoms, pathological changes and molecular detection. The parrot had symptoms of appetite loss, lethargy, vomiting and so on before death.Postmortem examination showed that the glandular stomach was dilated, undigested food in the stomach was accompanied by sour odor, the stomach wall was thin, and the brain was hyperemia.Pathological biopsy and laboratory molecular di-agnosis showed that the parrot was infected with Borna virus.Sequencing and evolutionary tree analysis showed that the infected Borna virus was parrots Bornavirus-2,which was found for the first time in China. This study provides a basis for the diagnosis of the virus and a reference for the prevention and control of the disease.
