新时期农业高校大学英语教学:现状、改革原则与实践探索

College English Teaching in Agricultural Universities in the New Era:Current Situation,Reform Principles and Practical Exploration

大学英语是高校大多数非英语专业学生的必修公共基础课,在一流人才培养和“双一流”建设中具有重要作用。分析“双一流”和“四新”建设农业高校的大学英语教学现状,发现存在两个方面的主要问题:一是学生存在听说能力短板,二是大学英语教学未能充分满足学校、社会和国家发展之需。文章提出新时期大学英语教学改革三大原则:服务国家重大战略需求,切合学校发展定位与生源特点,助力大学生全面成长。提出五项改革举措:确立新时期校本化大学英语教学目标,优化大学英语课程体系,开展课程建设、教学及评价改革,开展第二课堂育人,提升教师综合素养。

College English is a compulsory public basic course for most non-English majors in colleges and universities,and it plays an important role in the cultivation of the first-class talents and the construction of first-class disciplines and first-class universities.After analyzing the current situation of college English teaching in“Double First-class”and“Four-new”agricultural colleges and universities,two main problems are found to exist:students insufficiency in speaking and listening abilities and insufficient service provided by the college English teaching for the needs of university,social and national development.Thus,three major principles of college English teaching reform in the new era are proposed:to serve the major strategic needs of the country;to meet the development orientation of the university and the characteristics of the students;and to help the overall growth of college students.Five reform initiatives are proposed:first,to establish the specific teaching objectives of college English with characteristics of the agricultural universities in the new era;second,to optimize the college English curriculum system;third,to conduct college English curriculum construction and teaching reform;fourth,to supplement the second classroom education;and fifth,to improve the comprehensive abilities of the faculty.
