Li Da-zhao and Hu Shi are two important figures in modern Chinese history,and both of them have put forward many opinions on the issue of freedom,which have aroused great repercussions.A comparative analysis reveals that both of them advocated the combination of East and West,freedom of thought,reconciliation of freedom and order,and the importance of legislation,but the focus,methods,and influence they exerted differed.A comparative analysis of their views on freedom at the historical intersection of the two centuries’goals and the relevant revelations can help safeguard the guiding position of Marxism in the ideological field at the theoretical level and inspire the innovative thinking of contemporary youth.
