This article sheds light on the origin,status quo and latitude of program review at universities in Ontario.The Canadian constitute rules educational affairs as the provincial jurisdiction,so the practices as well as description of university quality control are confined to the provinces.Ontario has the country's largest university sector,and is thus a miniature of the country.In some 30 years,university program review moved past a connoisseurship model,into a goal-based model for now,and towards a responsive model,driven by the government practice associating with a decision-making model(performance-based funding).
