认知负荷视角下话题熟悉度对二语写作的影响研究

Effects of Topic Familiarity on L2 Writing:An Exploration into Cognitive Load

本研究通过控制对比实验,对学习者二语写作过程中的内在认知负荷、外在认知负荷以及相关认知负荷进行直接和分类测量,并从复杂度、准确度、流利度和总分4个维度对写作产出质量进行了考量。结果发现:1)熟悉话题引发的内在认知负荷和相关认知负荷显著低于低熟悉度话题;2)写作产出质量与内在认知负荷、外在认知负荷和相关认知负荷都呈负相关。本研究结果除了为写作任务设计提供依据外,同时指出认知负荷理论在语言学习中的应用应考虑到语言学习的特殊性。

This study explores the effects of topic familiarity on L2 writing from the perspective of cognitive load by directly and respectively measuring intrinsic,extraneous and germane cognitive load induced by the writing tasks of a familiar and an unfamiliar topic and investigating the complexity,accuracy,fluency and holistic result of L2 writing performance.It is found that 1)the familiar topic induces significantly lower intrinsic and germane cognitive load than the unfamiliar topic;and 2)intrinsic,extraneous and germane cognitive loads all negatively correlate with L2 writing outcomes.Theoretical as well as pedagogical implications are proposed since language learning has its inherent features.
