This article introduces professor DONG Youqi's experience in using Sangxing Shigan Tang(桑杏石甘汤)to treat cough of phlegm-heat type in children.Children have delicate organs and are easily affected by external pathogens,which can cause dysfunction of lung function and water pathways,leading to cough of phlegm-heat type.Professor DONG emphasizes the importance of identifying the cause and pathogenesis of the disease in treatment.On the one hand,attention should be paid to the symptom of heat,which is manifested as the transformation of stomach qi and exterior heat to lung qi and interior heat.On the other hand,attention should be paid to the pathological product of phlegm and its degree of association with wind and heat.The treatment focuses on clearing and moistening the lungs while dispelling phlegm-heat,with Sangxing Shigan Tang as the basic formula,and flexible modifications based on the specific condition of the patient.The results of clinical practice have been satisfactory.A case study is presented to verify the effectiveness of the treatment.
