The understanding of the Communist Party of China(CPC)during the Yan’an period by British-A⁃merican individuals can be attributed to their personal experiences in Yan’an.Through direct interaction with CPC leaders and immersion in the local community,they gradually developed a fundamental comprehension of the key characteristics of the CPC.These included the Red Army and the Long March,the party’s ideology,the concept of a symbiotic“fish-water relationship”,as well as the envisioned future direction of the CPC,a⁃mong others.These understandings formed the primary elements of the British-American perspective on the CPC during the Yan’an period.As the collective viewpoint of the British-American populace regarding the CPC during Yan’an spread extensively worldwide,the international community began to form a preliminary understanding of the CPC and the Chinese revolution.The British-American viewpoint regarding the CPC in Yan’an played a constructive role in shaping an accurate perception of the CPC within the international com⁃munity.Moreover,it facilitated the CPC’s mastery of external communication initiatives and fostered the de⁃velopment of a friendly alliance identity.
