金文“黄”名物再考--对唐兰之说的修正

Re-examination of the Referent of Huang in Bronze Inscriptions:A Revision to Tang Lan's Viewpoint

学者对西周册命金文中赏赐物“黄”的认识经历了不断发展的过程。20世纪60年代唐兰先生提出“黄”是缀属于巿的系巿之带,其说逐渐得到学界认可并成为主流观点。但实际上唐兰先生混淆了文献中的“革带”“大带”。通过对礼书相关记载的仔细辨析,并结合考古实物资料,本文认为册命金文中的“黄”应是礼书中束衣的大带,而革带才是缀属于巿的系巿之带,二者不可混淆。

The referent of huang黄,a type of reward in Western Zhou bronze inscriptions,has long been misunderstood.In the 1960s,Tang Lan proposed that huang referred to a girdle used to tie a knee-cover around one's waist.Tang Lan's theory was gradually accepted by scholars and has become the consensus view.However,Tang Lan actually confused leather bands ge dai革带and great girdles da dai大带,both of which were recorded in texts on ritual.Through a careful review of these texts and an analysis of archeological materials,this paper argues that huang in Western Zhou bronze inscriptions referred to the great girdle used for binding up one's garments,while the leather band was a component part of a knee-cover.
