Digital economy is gradually becoming an important driving force for regional innovation development. It is of great significance to study its impact on regional innovation performance.A panel econometric model was constructed for the cities in Anhui Province from 2011 to 2019 to explore the influence and mechanism of digital economy on regional innovation performance. The results showed that:(1)In the benchmark regression, the development of digital economy had a significant role in improving regional innovation performance. For every 1%increase in digital economy, regional innovation performance increases by 0.807%.(2)In the mechanism analysis, the digital economy could indirectly promote the regional innovation performance through human capital and R&D investment, and the improvement by the digital economy had nonlinear characteristics.(3)In the spatial spillover analysis, there was a significant spatial correlation between digital economy and regional innovation performance, which had a positive spillover effect on the regional innovation performance. Therefore,it is concluded that all the regions should continue to promote the development of digital economy, improve the level of innovative development, and realize regional“linkage”.
