Rethinking on the Study of The Communist Manifesto Translated by Chen Wangdao

《共产党宣言》陈望道译本在《共产党宣言》传播史上具有无可替代的地位。研究发现,陈译本的底本是日文版而非英文版;陈译本有明确的目标读者,并采用了与之一致的翻译策略;陈译本是第二个全译本——华岗译本的底本,而非目前普遍认为的英译本是华岗译本的底本。本文对《共产党宣言》的翻译研究有一定的补充和纠正作用。

The Communist Manifesto;translated by Chen Wangdao has an irreplaceable position in its spread history.The research shows that the original version of Chen's translation is in Japanese rather than in English,that Chen's Chinese version has a clear target audience and adopts correspondingly suitable translation strategies and that Huagang's version is based on Chen's version rather than the English version,which is generally believed to be the base of Huagang's version.This paper tries to correct the misunderstanding of translation study of The Communist Manifesto.
