Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis(IPF)is a difficult and rare disease with rapid progression and high mortality.Acute exacerbation of IPF(AE-IPF)is a severe worsening of respiratory symptoms in patients with IPF,with high rate and poor prognosis. There is a lack of effective measures to prevent and treat AE-IPF in clinical practice, while traditional Chinese medicine has good application prospects. The identification of risk factors is particularly important in the stage of disease prevention and control. How to prevent and control the risk factors that affect the occurrence and prognosis of AE-IPF is an effective way to prevent the disease. Therefore, exploring the related risk factors of AE-IPF and the prevention and treatment measures of traditional Chinese medicine will have important academic value and good social and economic benefits for disease prevention and quality of life improvement. This review analyzed the latest research on the risk factors of AE-IPF and the prevention and treatment of AE-IPF at home and abroad,in order to improve clinicians'awareness of AE-IPF,so as to avoid the risk of AE and timely choose the best prevention and treatment measures.
