The intestine is an important organ for digestion and absorption of nutrients as well as playing an immune role in livestock and poultry.The intestinal barrier function is an important internal factor that affects the intestinal health of livestock and poultry.In recent years,nutritional intervention has gradually become a sustainable method for preventing diseases and improving intestinal health in livestock and poultry.Eugenol,as a natural plant extract,has biological activities such as anti-inflammatory,antiviral,and antibacterial effects.The article reviews the improvement of intestinal barrier function by syringic acid and its application in livestock and poultry production,aiming to elucidate the role of syringic acid in improving intestinal health and enhancing production performance in livestock and poultry.
