In order to provide a theoretical basis for environmental governance and achieve the purpose of ecological balance,this paper will take environmental monitoring as the research object,deeply discuss the content,task and purpose,necessity,characteristics and significance of environmental monitoring,and conclude that environmental monitoring has a very significant role in promoting environmental governance.It can provide reference for environmental assessment,contribute to implement the preparation for environmental governance,help clarify the direction and objectives of environmental governance,enhance the specificity and order of environmental governance,and provide sentencing and conviction standards for environmental pollution crimes,provide a basis for environmental impact assessment and collection of sewage charges,and help to stabilize the ecosystem balance of the region.
