Spare the Rod and Spoil the Child?The Impact of Harsh Parenting on Adolescent Filial Piety Behavior

目的:检验“棍棒底下出孝子”这一教育理念在当下社会的适用性,即粗暴养育对青少年孝道行为的影响及其中介机制。方法:以河南省471名中学生为被试,采用粗暴养育量表、父母温暖问卷、父母拒绝问卷和双元孝道量表进行调查。结果:(1)青少年的互惠性孝道行为显著高于权威性孝道行为;(2)粗暴养育与互惠性孝道行为显著负相关,与权威性孝道行为不相关;(3)粗暴养育通过三条中介路径影响互惠性孝道行为:感知父母温暖、感知父母拒绝的单独和链式中介作用,且该序列中介模型存在性别差异。结论:粗暴养育不仅不能提高青少年的权威性孝道行为,还会降低其互惠性孝道行为。棍棒底下不再出孝子。

Objective:To examine the applicability of the educational concept of"spare the rod and spoil the child"in the present,namely the impact of harsh parenting on adolescents'filial piety behavior and its mediation mechanism.Methods:A sample of 471 middle school students from Henan province were recruited to complete Harsh Parenting Scale,Parental Warmth Questionnaire,Parental Rejection Questionnaire and The Dual Filial Piety Scale.Results:(1)Adolescents"reciprocal filial piety behavior was significantly more than authoritarian filial piety behavior.(2)Harsh parenting was negatively correlated with reciprocal filial piety behavior,but was not significantly correlated with authoritarian filial piety behavior.(3)Harsh parenting affected adolescents'reciprocal filial piety behavior through three mediation paths:the separate and chain mediation effect of perception of parental warm and parental rejection;there was significant gender difference in the serial mediating effect.Conclusion:Not only could harsh parenting not raise adolescents'authoritarian filial piety behavior,it reduces reciprocal flial piety behavior.Nowadays,the saying"spare the rod and spoil the child"is no longer applicable.
