Digital Economy,FDI and Regional Economic Growth

本文将数字经济、外商直接投资与区域经济增长纳入统一分析框架,基于2011-2019年中国273个地级及以上城市面板数据,实证检验数字经济带动经济增长的边际效应以及外商直接投资在其过程中的影响机制,研究发现:数字经济发展不仅显著促进区域经济增长,而且具有稳外资的作用;数字经济对区域经济增长的影响存在非线性关系;随着经济增长分位点增加,数字经济促进作用呈现先下降再上升的“U”型特征;数字经济发展对区域经济增长的影响存在显著的区域、产业结构与城镇化异质性;数字经济发展具有明显的空间溢出效应,并且溢出效益可能远大于直接效益。

This article integrates the digital economy,FDI,and regional economic growth into a unified framework.Based on the panel data of 273 cities at prefecture level and above in China from 2011 to 2019,this paper empirically tests the marginal utility of digital economy driving economic growth and the impact mechanism of FDI in its process.Research has shown that the development of digital economy not only significantly promotes regional economic growth,but also has a stabilizing effect on foreign investment.The impact of digital economy on regional economic growth has a non-linear relationship.As the quantile of economic growth increases,the promoting effect of the digital economy shows a“U”shaped feature of first decreasing and then increasing.The impact of digital economy development on regional economic growth has significant heterogeneity in regional,industrial structure,and urbanization.The development of the digital economy has significant spatial spillover effects,and the spillover benefits may far outweigh the direct benefits.
