葛浩文译《饥饿的女儿》语用明晰化处理分析

明晰化又称外显化、明朗化、明示等,在翻译中由于增加阐释,译文比原文更加清晰明了,这一现象受到众多学者的关注。文章以虹影《饥饿的女儿》葛浩文英译本为研究对象,从词汇、句子和语篇三个层面,探讨了葛浩文翻译时采取的翻译方法,发现词汇明晰化处理上,葛浩文不仅采取解释的方法,还采用了改写和省译的方法;句意明晰化处理上,葛浩文进行了句子结构重组和句型的转换;语篇明晰化处理上,葛浩文注重各部分的明晰以及语篇衔接。

Explicitness,also known as clarification means the translator makes the translation clearer and more explicit by clarifying what remains implicit in the source language.Explicitness received a lot of attention among scholars.Based on Daughter of the River translated by Howard Goldblatt,this paper investigates Goldblatt's translation methods from three aspects-the words,sentences,and discourse.The paper finds that Goldblatt uses explanation,rewriting,and omission in dealing with words,adopts restructuring and conversion of sentence patterns in achieving sentence explicitness,and focuses on the coherence and clarity of the discourse,as well as ensuring smooth transitions between different parts of the text.
