China’s stunning cconomic rise over the last 40 years relied on the labor of the country’s migrant workers.Since the beginning of economic liberalization,millions havc moved from central and wcstern regions to staff assembly lines in new manufacturing hubs in the country’s cast.They left behind homes,families,and land,and contributed to what was called the"factory of the world."Now,four decades on,we ask"what’s next?"for the migrant workers that helped build contemporary China.
