The first eight poems of Tao Yuanming’s Miscellaneous Poems were written when the poet was 50 years old,at Wuwu(418),the 14th year of Yixi during the reign of Emperor Jin’an.This set of poems truthfully described the lament complex that arose when Tao reached the age of 50,and the ways to solve it,thereby enjoying the joy of his later years,and elevating his level of life.
