基于“三美论”的《清明》两英译本对比赏析

Comparison and Appreciation of Two English Versions of Qingming Based on the“Theory of Three Beauties”

中国古诗语言精辟、意蕴深远,为达其精髓,通其要义,译者在翻译时必须精雕细琢,以再现原文之美。本文以许渊冲先生提出的“三美论”为视角,采用对比分析法,就唐代诗人杜牧《清明》的许渊冲英译本与李明英译本进行对比赏析,以期更好地展现原诗的“音”、“形”、“意”之美,使外国读者也能深切地获得中国古诗的审美体验。经对比分析发现,许渊冲先生英译本在意、音、形三个方面有更好的呈现,但仍然有精雕细琢的空间。

Ancient Chinese poems,succinct in language and profound in connotations,are hard to be reproduced with its original beauty in translation.Accordingly,loads of efforts should be made to unfold the essence and linguistic subtleties of this kind of poems.Therefore,under the guidance of the“Theory of Three Beauties”proposed by Mr.Xu Yuanchong,the author,by employing the method of comparative analysis,compares and appreciates the two English versions from Xu Yuanchong and Li Ming in order to find a better version with the beauty of the“sound”,“form”and“meaning”of ancient poem,and finally foreign readers can also obtain the aesthetic feeling of ancient Chinese poetry.In line with comparative analysis,the results shows that Mr.Xu Yuanchong’s English version is better in reproducing the beauty of“sound”,“form”and“meaning”but there is still room for improvement.
