摘要
《拓宽历史学术成果定义的指引》是美国历史协会理事会在2023年1月5日批准通过的文件。在这份文件中,最引人注目的莫过于尝试将“增加和传播知识”纳入历史学术成果的范围。尽管文件中强调协会并不试图颠覆现行的以论文制为主导的学术成果审核体制,但从文件中我们能感觉到美国历史协会对历史学在公众领域影响力的重视。持反对意见者可能会担忧历史学术成果定义的拓宽会对历史学的学术性造成负面影响,似乎历史学本身并不应该介入公众生活。这种观点显然忽视了“实践的过去”有着源远流长的历史,本文正是从这一观念出发,在史学史的背景下审视美国历史协会这份文件的历史意义。
The Guidelines for Broadening the Definition of Historical Scholarship is a document approved by AHA Council on January 5,2023.In this document,nothing is more striking than the attempt to include“the increase and diffusion of knowledge”within the scope of historical scholarship.Although the document emphasizes that the association does not seek to subvert the current,paper-based system of academic review,we can feel from the document that AHA attaches importance to the influence of history in the public sphere.Opponents may worry that broadening the definition of historical scholarship will have a negative impact on the scholarship of historiography,as if history itself should not intervene in public life.This view clearly ignores the long history of“the practical past”,and it is from this concept that this article examines the historical significance of this document of AHA in the context of historiography.
