清诗在英语世界译介的“副文本”探讨

摘要 从副文本理论视角考察中国清代诗歌的译介情况,可以为中国古代诗歌及其文化译介研究提供新的解释路径。现有三个英译本可以作为案例,从内副文本(peritext)包括脚注、序言、封面等维度来看,英译本采用了加注解释、背景介绍、中西文学类比等副文本阐释方式,向英语读者展现了与清诗相关的历史背景、文化习俗、创作环境与文学体裁等。从外副文本(epitext)包括著述、访谈等材料来看,汉学家译者熟悉原文语言特色,学术研究功底深厚,将清诗置于中国文学传统乃至世界文学语境中深入考察。就中国古代诗歌的译介模式而言,可以充分发挥副文本在作品接受性方面的功能和作用,考虑翻译目的、译者行为、读者需要等因素,注重中国古代诗歌译介的传播和接受,实现有效传播中华优秀传统文化的目标。 The translation and introduction of Qing poetry from the perspective of paratext can provide an alternative lens for the study of translating ancient Chinese poetry and culture.This paper concerns three English versions.From the perspective of peritext,including footnotes,preface,book cover,the English translations adopt note-adding and interpretation,introduction of context,parallels between Chinese and Western literature to present historical background,cultural tradition,creation context and literary genre of poetry in the Qing Dynasty.From the perspective of epitext,including academic research,interviews and reports,the translators who are familiar with both languages and cultures,show a sound academic research capability and place the Qing poetry in the context of Chinese literary tradition and also the world literature.In practice,the translation and introduction of ancient Chinese poetry can make full use of paratext in the reception of the translated works,considering the purpose of the translation,the profile of the translator,the demand of the reader,and the effect of reception,so as to achieve an effective spreading of the excellent traditional Chinese culture to the world.
