摘要
《椭圆画像》是爱伦·坡的一篇经典的语象叙事作品,在其中作者为我们提供了关于语言与形象之间关系的全新理解:语言与形象以及自我与他者之间的关系不再是传统二元论意义上相互对立、相互冲突的关系,而是一种你中有我、我中有你的相互包容、相互依赖的关系。词语与形象之间的动态的、辩证统一的关系是我们理解小说本身的二元对立结构以及其中存在的多个二元对立关系的基础,包括艺术与现实、性别与权力等。与此同时,语象之间所具有的这样一种动态的互动关系则隐喻性地体现在小说所具有的复杂的叙述结构之中。
“The Oval Portrait”is a classical Ekphrasis of Edgar Allan Poe in which the author provides us with a new understanding of the relationship between language and image:the relationship between language and image,and between self and other,is no longer one of opposition and conflict in the traditional dualistic sense,but one of mutual inclusion and interdependence.The dynamic and dialectical relationship between words and images is the basis for our understanding of the binary structure of the novel itself and the multiple binary oppositions that exist within it,including art and reality,gender and power,and so on.At the same time,such a dynamic interaction between words and images is metaphorically reflected in the complex narrative structure of the novel.
