A Moon for the Misbegotten,the last play by Eugene O'Neill,is a typical trauma writing,which not only shows personal traumatic memories at different levels,but also reveals the traumatic history of Irish people in the United States.Both the characters and the playwright are haunted by the traumatic memories of the past and trapped in some unspeakable pain.The characters in the play are gradually relieved by telling his traumatic memory,while the playwright finishes his unfinished"mourning"for his brother through the description of Jamie Tyrone.Both the personal traumatic memory of the characters and the playwright as well as the traumatic history of the Irish ethnic are represented through the trauma narrative of the playwright,which not only makes the audience or readers feel the traumatic situation,but also inspires the reflection on and criticism of the traumatic events,so as to transcend the trauma complex and realize the recovery of the trauma.
