Beyond the Invariable Style:The Development of Residential Architecture in Yanxia Village,Zhejiang Province

在查阅历史文献、建筑测绘和田野调查的基础上,比较分析浙江省岩下村在16世纪初到20世纪中叶之间建造的五幢民居。认为不同时代建造者迥异的社会地位和价值观,以及来自香客不断变化的需求推动了岩下民居的发展变化,并使其逐步具有新功能、新空间及新思想。

This paper examines the development of residential architecture in Yanxia village,Zhejiang Province,by drawing upon archival discoveries,building surveys,and ethnographic fieldwork to study five houses built between mid-sixteenth and mid-twentieth centuries.The paper argues that changing values and social status of residents,in conjunction with the growth of pilgrimage activities,led to the introduction of new architectural programs,spaces,and ideas.
