庞德中国典籍英译中的注释研究

Annotations in Ezra Pound's English Translation of Chinese Classics

庞德中国古诗及儒家经典翻译研究成果丰硕,但对于庞德译作的注释问题却鲜有人研究。本文在指出庞德时代厚重翻译流弊的基础上,深入考察了庞德注释的类型、原则与目的。研究发现,庞德的注释主要可以分为脚注、前言+译者注、术语表与文内注释等4类,他的注释原则是尽量不用注释,如果使用,则是为了凸显他的表意文字翻译法或让译文意义自洽。

Despite the fruitful researches on Ezra Pound's translation of ancient Chinese poems and Confucian classics,little attention has been paid to his annotations in translation.Pointing out the shortcomings of thick translation in his time,this paper probes into the types,principles and aims of Pound's annotations.It is found that Pound's annotations fall into four types:footnotes,introductions or translators'note,terminologies and in-text explanations.Pound does not advocate the use of annotations unless they can highlight his ideogrammic method or complement his poetic expression in the translated version.
