黄炎培是我国近代职业教育的奠基者和推动者,黄炎培大职业教育思想源自黄炎培1926年提出的大职业教育主义。他的大职业教育思想所主张的职业教育与教育界相融通、职业教育与职业界相融合以及职业教育与社会相融汇,将职业教育置于社会整体大环境中,使职业教育成为一种全方位开放的、且对整个社会发展具有显著推动力的教育类型。这对新时代职业教育发展具有重要的借鉴价值:职业教育必然要和普通教育相融通,以进一步完善职业学校教育和培训体系;职业教育界必然要和职业界相融合,促进教育链和产业链的供需匹配;职业教育界必然要和社会相融汇,实现职业教育与社会发展的双向赋能,最终实现全过程职业教育、全要素职业教育和全社会职业教育。
