Senescence is a physiological process characterized by a progressive decline in tissue and organ function as individuals age. With advancing age,the occurrence of various age-related diseases often coincides with senescence.Caloric restriction(CR),a dietary intervention, has been closely associated with senescence and has demonstrated remarkable potential in the prevention and amelioration of numerous age-related conditions, such as hypertension, diabetes mellitus,Alzheimer's disease, sarcopenia, and asthenia. This comprehensive literature review explores the profound impact of CR on senescence and age-related diseases, aiming to provide robust evidence to support the clinical application of CR as a promising therapeutic strategy.
