中国高等教育学自主知识体系是对具有中国特色社会主义高等教育进行全面深刻认识后获得的关于中国高等教育的整体性、系统性理论集成,对指导中国高等教育改革与发展具有思想引领性价值。该体系的建构需以庞大的高等教育研究队伍、规模巨大的高等教育研究课题和理论成果为人才及理论基础,以高等教育及高校的统一性和多样性为理论依据,以有效指导高等教育实践且能够高效服务我国发展战略需要为目标,以处理好与国家治理、经济发展、社会进步的关系为逻辑依据。高等教育学自主知识体系建构的前提是要明确什么是自主的高等教育学知识体系,什么是有效的高等教育学自主知识体系以及什么是高等教育学自主知识体系的核心三个问题,在此基础上树立学科自信与自主建构意识,从我国高等教育实践出发,不断提升理论的解释力和凝练学科核心问题与核心概念。与此同时,中国高等教育学自主知识体系在其建构过程中还需处理好该体系与自主知识体系,教育学自主知识体系,高等教育学学科体系、学术体系、话语体系、教材体系,中国高等教育实践的关系以及中国高等教育学学术研究与西方高等教育学学术研究的关系。
