Objective:The explore the value of shear wave elastography(SWE)and contrast-enhanced ultrasound(CEUS)for assessing the gluteus medius muscle pain in patients with lumbar disc herniation(LDH).Methods:A total of 41 patients with unilateral LDH accompanied by ipsilateral gluteus medius muscle pain who were admitted to No.967 Hospital of Chinese PLA Joint Logistic Support Force from September 2019 to December 2021 were selected as the study subjects. All patient underwent bilateral CEUS and SWE examinations. The thickness of gluteus medius muscle, shear wave velocity(SWV),peak intensity(PEAK),area under the curve(AUC),time to peak(TP),and mean time to transition(MTT)were compared between the affected side and the healthy side. Results:There were no significant differences in muscle thickness,TP and MTT at the affected side(P>0.05).SWV at the affected side was higher than that at the healthy side, and PEAK and AUC at the affected side were smaller than those at the healthy side, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:SWE and CEUS have significant value in assessing gluteus medius muscle pain in LDH patients, and can quantitatively analyze gluteus medius muscle stiffness and microcirculatory perfusion.
