《道家经典<庄子〉》英译本序

Preface to A Taoist Classic Chuang-Tzu

[1]庄子著述,坊间已有数种英译本刊行。我为何还要新添一种呢?[2]欲答此问,或需说明二因。首先,一种译本只是一种阐释,或一种注解。就已有的数种《庄子》英译本而言,若从文学角度或语言角度视之,诸本或皆堪称佳作且读之有益。

[1]There are already several English translations of Chuang Tzu's writings in circulation.Why should we offer a new one?[2]In answering this question,two reasons may be given:In the first place,a translation is an interpretation or commenting.So far as the English translations of the Chuang-Tzu are concerned,they may be good and useful from a literary or linguistic point of view.
