扬州是一座以园林、运河、文化艺术闻名的历史名城。扬州运河大剧院是这座城市最重要的文化综合体,设有1,600座的大剧院、800座的戏剧厅、多功能厅和曲艺剧院。设计重点关注景观、建筑和城市空间的关系,以园林剧院为概念,将大剧院塑造成具有强大吸引力的公共场所。大剧院位于城市与明月湖之间,为了维持并强化城市与公园的联系,总体设计以虚代实,以对外开放的庭院作为整个场地的核心,再现园林、艺术与生活三位一体、天人合一的中国传统文化场景。
