马克思主义经典理论认为,人类文明的构成包括精神文明和物质文明等形式。在进行社会主义现代化建设过程中,中国共产党一直以来都是以马克思主义为指导,重视意识形态对于发展生产力的重要作用,把对人民精神文化建设的关注作为社会主义精神文明的重要方向,两手都要抓两手都要硬。从毛泽东、邓小平、江泽民、胡锦涛一直到习近平,中国共产党的领导人带领全国人民对社会主义精神文明建设进行了不懈的努力和探索,取得了一系列成功的经验和做法。在这一历史过程中,新民主主义革命时期以及社会主义建设时期应该是精神文明建设理论的初步探索阶段,打下了理论基础;改革开放一直到新时代以来是社会主义精神文明建设理论逐步形成和完善阶段,开始了理论的体系化建构。在迈入小康社会实现共同富裕过程中,以人民精神文化生活提高为重要内涵的精神文明建设必将成为检验中国特色社会主义成功经验的重要内容和指标。

Marxist Classical theory holds that human civilization includes such forms as spiritual and material civilization.In the pursuit of socialist modernization,the Communist Party of China(CPC)has always taken Marxism as its guiding principle,recognizing the important role of ideology for the development of productive forces and taking the spiritual and cultural development of the people as an important facet of Socialist Spiritual Civilization.From Mao Zedong,Deng Xiaoping,Jiang Zemin,Hu Jintao to Xi Jinping,the leaders of the CPC have led the whole country in unremitting efforts and exploration towards the construction of Socialist Spiritual Civilization,and have achieved a series of successful experiences and practices.In this historical process,the periods of the new⁃democratic revolution and socialist construction should be considered as the preliminary stages of exploration and lay the foundation for the construction of the theory of spiritual civilization.From the beginning of reform and opening up to the new era,the theory of Socialist Spiritual Civilization has gradually formed and evolved,and the systematic construction of the theory has begun.In the process of realizing common prosperity and advancing towards a moderately prosperous society,the construction of spiritual civilization,encompassing the improvement of people's spiritual and cultural life,will certainly become an important aspect and indicator for evaluating the successful experience of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
