Artificial Intelligence as a Medium Is Information

麦克卢汉提出的“媒介即讯息”观点主要针对的是口语、印刷、电力等传统媒介,但到了数字媒介时代,特别是人工智能时代,对于人工智能媒介即讯息包含的内容和意义就有了新的理解和看法。随着互联网、大数据、人工智能等技术的日益普及,这些技术将会给人类的生活和社会结构带来巨大改变,进而影响到人类社会进程。尤其是,人工智能媒介即讯息这种提法也包含了一定的警示信号在内,即人类要为即将到来的社会变革作好充分准备、也要为人工智能技术可能带来的风险作好预估、预控等。具体而言,本文主要论及媒介的涵义、罗伯特·洛根对麦克卢汉媒介理论的发展和延伸、人工智能媒介的一般特点(如人工智能媒介即关系、环境、使用者、“膜”等)、人工智能媒介的特殊之处(如智能性、主体性)等,希望能给学界研究人工智能、媒介等理论问题带来些许启示和帮助。

McLuhan's view of""media is information"is mainly aimed at traditional media such as spoken language,printing and electricity.However,in the era of digital media,especially the era of artificial intelligence,there is a new understanding and view on the content and significance of artificial intelligence media,that is information.With the increasing popularity of Internet,big data,artificial intelligence and other technologies,these technologies will bring great changes to human life and social structure,and then affect the process of human society.In particular,the reference to artificial intelligence media as information also includes certain warning,that is,human beings should be fully prepared for the upcoming social change,and also make prediction and pre-control for the possible risks brought by artificial intelligence technology.Specifically,this paper mainly discusses the meaning of media,Robert Logan's development and extension of McLuhan's media theory,the general characteristics of artificial intelligence media(such as artificial intelligence media is relationship,environment,user,and"membrane,"etc.),and the special features of artificial intelligence media(such as intelligence and subjectivity),hoping to give academic circles a chance to study artificial intelligence media and other theoretical issues and bring some enlightenment and help.
