摘要
《国王之书》是15世纪英国最优秀的爱情梦幻诗之一。诗歌内容丰富,结构复杂,梦境包含在多层叙事框架之下,以至于有评论家怀疑《国王之书》到底是不是严格意义上的梦幻诗。本文旨在论述,《国王之书》不仅是一首梦幻诗,还是一首“元梦幻诗”。詹姆士一世借鉴乔叟梦幻诗程式,构建了从读书到写书的独特模式,叙述了从阅读《博伊斯》到写作梦幻诗的过程,探讨和展示了梦幻诗创作在内容和形式两方面的全新可能。
The Kingis Quair is one of the best love visions in the fifteenth-century English literature.Since the dream is so intricately framed by the multi-layered narrative of a poem which is all-embracing in content and complicated in structure,doubts arise as to whether The Kings Quair is a dream poem in the strict sense.This paper argues that the poem is not only a dream poem,but a"meta-dream poem."Borrowing Chaucer's dream poetry conventions,James I creatively constructs a unique model of"from reading to writing"and depicts the whole process in which the dreamer's reading of Boece leads to his writing a dream poem.This"poem about writing a poem"reveals and in a way demonstrates James I's thoughts on new possibilities in both content and form of a dream poem.
