德庇时英译中国文学的文化沟通研究

德庇时是第一位全面英译中国文学的翻译家,他把中国的小说、戏剧和诗歌从汉语直接译为英语,结束了19世纪之前从拉丁语、法语转译中国文学的历史。他奉行信息传递为主、审美情感为辅的翻译理念,把中国的文化知识、道德情操、审美价值和风俗习惯传到了英语世界,树立了文化中国的形象。此外,他打开了西方读者的眼界,丰富了文化多样性,促进了不同文化间的沟通交流。本文意图通过德庇时英译中国文学阐述文化沟通的价值与意义。

J.Davis is the first translator to comprehensively translate Chinese literature into English.He translated Chinese novels,dramas,and poems from Chinese into English,ending the history of translating Chinese literature from Latin and French before the 19th century.He pursued the translation idea of information transmission as the main and aesthetic emotion as the auxiliary to spread Chinese cultural knowledge,moral sentiment,aesthetic values,and customs to the Englishspeaking world,and establish the image of cultural China.In addition,he broadened the horizons of Western readers,enriched cultural diversity,and promoted communication and exchange between different cultures.This study sheds light on the value and significance of cultural communication through his English translation of Chinese literature.
