《溪蛮丛笑》是宋人朱辅所作的一部历史民族志典籍,书中以条目的形式分别记录了古代“五溪蛮”地区各民族土产方物、风俗习惯、宗教信仰、冶金工艺以及他们礼俗用乐等情况,是研究古代“五溪蛮”地区民俗民风、历史文化、科学技术和礼俗用乐活动等的珍贵史料。从音乐学视域观察,讨论《溪蛮丛笑》中所记载丧葬习俗与音乐活动等诸多关系问题,一可认识古代“五溪蛮”地区丧葬习俗与音乐活动的关系;二可认识《溪蛮丛笑》中“踏歌”活动及其宗教民俗性质;三可认识朱辅所记载苗族椎牛歌的音乐属性及其所具有的文治教化功能。

Xi Man Cong Xiao is a historical and ethnographic book written by Zhu Fu of the Song Dynasty.In the form of entries,this book records the local products,customs,religious beliefs,metallurgical techniques,customs and music of various nationalities in the ancient“Wuximan”region.It is a precious historical document to study the folk customs,history and culture,science and technology,ritual,custom and music activities in the ancient“Wuximan”area.From the perspective of musicology,this paper discusses the relationship between funeral customs and musical activities recorded in Xi Man Cong Xiao:the relationship between funeral customs and musical activities in the ancient Wuximan region,the activity of“Ta Ge”in Xi Man Cong Xiao and its religious and folk-custom character,and the musical attribute and the civilizing function of Zhu Fu's“Zhui Niu Ge”.
