清代黔籍名臣朱定元凭着卓越的治水疏河才能和勤勉廉洁的德操走出贵州苗乡,仕途三迁,成为治理一方的封疆大吏。朱定元公务之余笔耕诗文,有《静宁堂诗集》存世。《贵州通志》《皇朝文献通考》《清实录·高宗纯皇帝实录》等文献都记载了朱定元的行迹和政绩,诗史互证,可考朱定元宦途数十年殚心河务、精进塘工的经历和约己归正的志节,探索他飘零孤寂、难全忠孝的仕途心态。

With his excellent ability of water control and drainage,diligence,honest and upright,Zhu Dingyuan,a famous official native to Guizhou,could leave Miao Township of Guizhou,and obtained three changes in his official career until becoming the grand official of local governance.After work,Zhu Dingyuan devoted to poetry creation,with"Jingning Hall Poetry"handed down from the Qing Dynasty.Zhu Dingyuan's tracks and political achievements can be found in"Guizhou Chorography","Textual Research of Imperial Documents"and"Qing Dynasty·Emperor Gao zongchun Records".These provide important evidence for researching his painstaking efforts in constructing the seawall and the river pond project,and his aspiration of being integrity,and for analyzing his loneliness and official mentality of failing in being loyal and filial.
