Theory Development of Electronic Records Metadata and Its Impact on the Retrieval of Network Archives Information

20世纪80年代末,元数据因电子文件管理需要被引入档案领域。电子文件元数据理论研究,阐释元数据的含义、元数据与著录的关系、元数据的结构、元数据的功能,对元数据标准的制定和研究也属于元数据理论的一部分。元数据理论的发展对网络档案信息检索的影响主要表现在支持高效率的检索、支持多级著录的实现与检索、支持背景信息检索三个方面。同时,对于网络档案信息检索而言,元数据尚难支持内容检索,未来发展中需要深入发掘其内容描述功能。

At the end of the 1980s,metadata was introduced into the archives field due to the need of electronic records management.The theory research of electronic records metadata interprets the meaning of metadata,the relationship of metadata and description,the structure of metadata,and the function of metadata,and the formulation and research of metadata standards are also part of the metadata theory.The impact of the development of metadata theory on the the retrieval of network archives information is mainly manifested in three aspects:supporting high-efficiency retrieval,supporting the realization and retrieval of multi-level description,and supporting background information retrieval.At the same time,for the retrieval of network archives information,metadata is difficult to support content retrieval and the content description function needs to be deepened in the future development.
