Insights on Human Academic and Intellectual Community: A Review of Introduction to World Chinese Studies

从“汉学”到“中国研究”的沿革植根于西方文化、学术自身的变迁,其外因则是中国在世界格局中的角色转换。而中国本土的现代中国研究的滥觞和变动,与域外的中国研究、全球化的学术和思想体系亦不无关系。因此今天对世界中国学的重新定位,本质上是关于中国学者应如何进入变动着的人类学术—思想共同体的思考。西方和中国的学术、思想虽脉络不同,但均是共同体的一部分,同享对人类共同价值的情愫、理解和体认,有互动、互溶的物质的和思想的基础和诉求。中国学者以开放的、包容的、平等的心态积极主动地参与其间,强化理论学习,发挥本土学者的传统文化遗产和临场现实意识的优势,将收获所得转化为共通的世界性知识和理念,推进作为整体的中国研究,并提炼其可以影响到其他学科专业的理论和方法。

The development from Sinology to China Studies has been mainly attributed to the transformation of Western culture and scholarship, accompanied by the shifting role of China in the World. The functioning of modern domestic studies of China has also been associated with foreign studies of China and global academic and intellectual systems. Thus, the reorientation of the international Chinese studies relies on the consideration of how Chinese scholars participate in the changing human academic and intellectual community. As parts of the global community, in spite of certain differentiation between them, both the Western and Chinese scholarship share feelings, understanding and commitments toward the common value of humanity, as well as the basics and initiatives for material and spiritual interaction and accommodation. Open, inclusive and equal minded, theoretically enhanced, Chinese scholars are able to achieve a kind of activism by taking advantage of our own native heritage and personal experiences within China. Furthermore, next steps are to turn such Chinese experiences toward the world, and then to improve them to a theoretical level with extensive affection beyond China studies.
