藤平武雄是日本著名的汉学家、哲学家,是研究中国哲学的专家,在其诸多著作中都论述到了中国哲学。藤平武雄关于中国哲学特色的探究,主要的观点有:其一,以情意为本位的中国哲学特色。藤平武雄认为中国哲学没有严格的逻辑性,甚至有时候凭借直感论述而随情意主观发挥,由此形成了学术的片段性,缺乏理论的系统性。例如《老子》《论语》《传习录》等中,多采用语录体乃至问答体的形式;其二,偏重人生哲学的中国哲学特色。藤平武雄认为中国哲学家们当然也有知识欲,有探求真理的愿望,有探索自然、世界“道”之欲望,然而对人生意义探索则有更强烈的欲望。中国哲学注重精神性,着眼于实践性,彰显人生哲学的倾向;其三,以“无”“有”“道”“太极”凸显中国哲学的“形而上学”特色。藤平武雄认为中国哲学中“形而上学”的特色,是重视“修养境界的形而上学”,并且认为中国哲学的“形而上学”虽然没有像西方哲学那样的概念推理及充分的认识论,没有像西方哲学那样出世的和属灵性的宗教内涵,但是中国哲学史也演绎着自己独具特色的“形而上学”,以“无”“有”“道”“太极”彰显着中国哲学的“形而上学”特色。
