《西和乞巧歌》中方言特色称谓语的翻译研究

English Translation of Dialectal Addressing Terms in Xihe Qiqiao Songs

《西和乞巧歌》中包含许多具有鲜明地方特色和口语化特征的称谓语,这些称谓语可分为亲属称谓语、社会称谓语和姓名称谓语三类。由于汉英语言的差异,方言称谓语在英译时使用目标语标准语进行翻译,消除了所有方言特征和效果。《西和乞巧歌》中大部分方言称谓语的翻译采取直译法,同时结合了多种翻译技巧。亲属称谓语运用了直译、音译、省译、音译加注等方法来翻译;社会称谓语采用了直译法,并辅以明晰化、简化策略,以及人称转换等技巧;姓名称谓语则使用音译和“音译+增译”的方法。虽然《西和乞巧歌》中的称谓语翻译基本实现了忠实、通顺的原则,且翻译方法和技巧多样,但个别方言称谓语存在误译的情况。因此,方言特色浓郁的作品最好让熟悉当地方言的译者翻译,这样能最大限度减少误译。

Xihe Qiqiao Songs includes several addressing terms with distinctive local and informal features.Three types of addressing terms were identified hereby-kinship addressing terms,social addressing terms,and name addressing terms.Due to the differences between Chinese and English,all the dialectal addressing terms were translated into standard English in translation,removing all the dialectal features and effects.Most dialectal addressing terms in Xihe Qiqiao Songs were translated with literal translation method,combined with various translation techniques.Kinship addressing terms were translated with literal translation,transliteration,omission,transliteration with annotation methods;social addressing terms were translated with literal translation method,complemented with explication and simplification,and person shift techniques;name addresing terms were translated by using transliteration or transliteration with additional technique.Although translation of addressing terms in Xihe Qiqiao Songs is mostly faithful and expressive,combining diverse translation methods and techniques,few dialectal addressing terms were mistranslated.Therefore,it is recommended that works with distinct dialectal features be translated by translators who speak that dialect so as to lessen the mistranslation problems.
