This paper discusses the application of Artificial Intelligence(AI)technology in power system relay protection.Firstly,the function of power system relay protection and common relay protection equipment and technology are introduced.Then the working principle of the relay protection system is elaborated.The application of artificial intelligence technology in power system relay protection is discussed.Specifically,it includes the application of artificial intelligence technology in fault diagnosis of relay protection equipment,system condition monitoring and early warning,decision and operation,as well as optimization and self-adaptation.Finally,the potential advantages and future development directions of AI technology in power system relay protection are summarized.
