From the mid and late Ming dynasty onward, travelogue collections under the title"famous mountains"constantly occurred in the book market along with the flourish of tourism and the quick development of printing industry.Centering on various editions of the Records of Famous Mountains collected in the Naikaku bunko,Japan, etc.,this article examines the relations of these editions, and discusses how editors employed various editorial strategies to swiftly respond to the changing market.Through constant re-editing and republication, the travelogue collections not only eclectically showcased its dual function as geographical writing and belles-lettres,but also included many contemporary texts in fashion, such as woodblock illustrations and casual essays on connoisseurship. They also promoted the publicization of literati's individual experience and transformed their leisure writings into commercial goods, which appealed to a broader group of readers.
