Objective:To investigate the correlation between different body mass index(BMI)and high sensitivity C-reactive protein(HsCRP)in middle-aged and elderly patients with chronic schizophrenia.Method:A total of 182 patients with chronic schizophrenia who met the inclusion criteria were selected and social demographic data, hematological indicators and other clinical data were collected. Results:The prevalence of underweight was 7.7%(14/182),and the prevalence of overweight or obesity was 36.8%(67/182)and 18.7%(34/182).Compared with the underweight group, the HsCRP levels in the obese group were increased.BMIs of all patients were positively correlated with HsCRP levels, and obesity was positively correlated with fasting blood glucose, total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG)and HsCRP levels.Underweight was negatively correlated with TC and TG levels(P<0.05).Regression analysis showed that TG and HsCRP were risk factors for obesity in schizophrenia patients. Conclusion:The rates of underweight and obesity of middle-aged and elderly patients with chronic schizophrenia were higher than that of the general population or the first-episode drug-naive patients and obesity was correlated with the level of HsCRP.
