彼得·纽马克交际翻译和语义翻译在音乐剧字幕翻译中的应用——以音乐电影《悲惨世界》为例

The Application of Peter Neumark's Communicative Translation and Semantic Translation in the Translation of Musical Subtitles——Taking the Musical Film Les Misérables as an Example

音乐能代替现代语言,呈现饱满的情绪,给予观众美的感知和无尽力量。音乐剧是一种现代的舞台综合艺术形式,将叙事为主的戏剧表演与优美通俗的人声歌唱和多样化的舞蹈形体动作相结合。当音乐剧和电影相遇,音乐电影应运而生。音乐电影的字幕翻译不同于其他翻译,译者需遵照字幕翻译、戏剧翻译和歌词翻译的原则。由于电影在文化交流中的作用日益凸显,字幕属于感染型文本,于是该文在纽马克“交际翻译”和“语义翻译”理论指导下,根据上述音乐剧字幕翻译的特点,以音乐电影《悲惨世界》为例,探究音乐剧字幕翻译的技巧和策略,得出以下研究结论:翻译音乐剧字幕需着重考虑交际翻译,并结合音乐剧的音乐性和文学色彩,使译文符合字幕的时空限制。

Music can replace modern language and present full-bodied emotions,giving the audience a sense of beauty and endless power.Musicals are a modern comprehensive art form for the stage,combining narrative-based theatrical performances with beautiful and popular vocal singing and diverse dance and physical movements.When musicals and movies meet,musical movies are born.The subtitle translation of musical films differs from other translation studies in that the translator needs to follow the principles of subtitle translation,drama translation and lyrics translation.Since the role of movies in cultural communication is becoming more and more prominent,and subtitles are infectious texts,this paper,under the guidance of Newmark's"communicative translation"and"semantic translation"theories,takes the musical movie Les Misérables as an example to explore the techniques and strategies of musical subtitle translation based on the characteristics of musical subtitle translation mentioned above.The following results are obtained:the translation of musical subtitles should focus on communicative translation and combine the musicality and literary color of musicals to make the translation conform to the time and space limitation of subtitles.
