文学外译研究的三重维度与范式创新--《改革开放以来中国当代小说英译研究》的启示

作为近年来中国翻译学界的热点议题,文学外译研究具有独特的学术价值和现实必要性,为深化译学理论、开拓翻译学科内涵带来重要机遇。本文对吴赞的论著《改革开放以来中国当代小说英译研究》(2021)展开评介,指出文学外译研究具有三重维度,应在此基础上探索范式创新。首先,将文学外译视为文化外交手段,从软实力竞争的战略高度制定国家对外翻译规划,探究国家形象自我建构的策略。其次,将文学外译视为国际传播行为,立足翻译与传播的共生关系,关注译介传播内容的择取,着重考察多模态译介现象和受众接受效果。最后,将文学外译视为话语建构方式,引入跨学科方法剖析国家对外话语景观,深度重构文学外译研究路径,在西方主导的世界文学体系中提升中国文学的话语权。

Chinese literature in translation(CLT)has been in the limelight of translation studies in China for the past decade.Its development ushers in an opportunity to expand our ideas about translation beyond traditional paradigms and shape translation studies as an increasingly open discipline with new theoretical concerns.This article reviews Professor Wu Yun's latest book,Studies on the English Translation of Contemporary Chinese Novels since Reform and Opening Up(2021),and probes into a triangle framework and paradigm innovation for the research of CLT.Firstly,CLT should be conceived as a vehicle of cultural diplomacy,delivering China's soft power and global image through national translation policies.Secondly,it is vital to understand CLT in the context of global communication.The mutually sustaining relationship between translation and communication calls for a featured examination of translation selection,multimodal practices and worldwide readership in the digital age.Finally,the studies of CLT echoes with the construction of China's global discourse system.An interdisciplinary research approach to CLT will contribute to the repositioning of Chinese literature in the world republic of letters.
