《嘉莉妹妹》再现了物质、分野和交叠并存的现代都市空间,昭示着资本逻辑空间生产的非正义性。都市作为一种复杂的社会空间是人类实践与社会关系的产物,它能够型塑身居其间的个体及其精神。小说人物在与资本统御的外部空间互动中无意识地异化为资本生产的附庸,抑或在拜物主义的浸染下步入了精神空间的荒原。空间失衡激化的仇恨与对立也使都市深陷人城俱损的困境。基于马克思主义空间理论,以人本逻辑为内核的空间正义厘正资本逻辑主导的消极空间生产是避免个体异化、实现人城共生的有益尝试。

Sister Carrie depicts the modern metropolitan landscapes characterized by materiality,division and overlap,indicating the unjust state of spatial production under the capitalist system.As a complicated social space,metropolitan space is produced by human practice and endowed with the reciprocal ability to reversely reshape the residents living in this space.Consequently,individuals in the novel were unavoidably alienated during the interaction with urban space,which were represented by the inversion between producers and products,the spiritual wasteland in the trend of commodity fetishism.The antagonism aroused by spatial injustice also misleads both city and citizens to a spatial paradox.From the perspective of Marxist spatial theory,exercising spatial justice,which is centered upon humanistic logic,to adjust the negatively spatial production under capitalist logic is one potential solution that may help to counter the individual alienation and achieve symbiosis of between city and its citizens.
